ASX: MXR

Australian Securities Exchange-listed Maximus Resources has kicked off reverse circulation (RC) extension and infill drilling at its Wattle Dam gold mine in Western Australia’s premier gold and nickel mining district.

The 1500 drill metres at Wattle Dam have been incorporated into the company’s multi-target RC drilling program, which involves gold targets at Yilmia and Karramindie and resource extension and infill drilling at Maximus’ Larkinville project.

The company said today it expects the resource drilling to support its maiden mineral resource estimate, with the potential to significantly increase its current 112,000 ounce resource.

A recent review of legacy data highlighted a broad zone of remnant unmined carbonate-quartz stockwork at the Wattle Dam stockwork, with significant gold mineralisation intersections adjacent to a previously mined high-grade shoot at Wattle Dam.

Legacy drill intersections highlight high-grade and broad zones of gold mineralisation within the unmined Wattle Dam stockwork.

Following a review of legacy drilling data, Maximus has identified a near-mine opportunity immediately north of the project as a significant untested area along the strike from the mined-out Wattle Dam high-grade shoot.

RC drilling at Wattle Dam North will consist of 800m across four holes with the work to be completed in conjunction with the stockwork resource drilling.

Drilling at Wattle Dam is expected to be completed this coming week, with assaying results expected in three to five weeks.
