Valor grows bold on Peruvian metals trove

Valor’s latest survey and assay results have further extended surface mineralisation and support the belief in an extensive underground porphyry system at southern Peru’s 3000-hectare Picha copper-silver project.

The ongoing induced polarisation survey at the site, laying approximately 17 kilometres south of Buenaventura’s 2.5-million-ounce San Gabriel Gold Porphyry project, has shown 1.2 by 2-kilometre south opening geophysical anomaly, with rock chip assays supporting encouraging results from the Cumbre Coya, Maricate and Fundicion sites.

Copper’s importance in renewable technologies has kept it at a seller’s price, while other construction metals have fallen heavily in cost due to an ongoing Chinese construction slowdown.

The company said the developments underpin confidence in the project.

“These latest exploration results provide further support to our belief that we are dealing with a significant mineralising system at Picha,” executive chairman George Bauk said.

“2022 promises to be an incredibly significant year in the company’s development as we get to drill test this exciting project.

“Copper is a key mineral as we strive towards a net-zero carbon world, and we have uncovered a significant area which requires a drill program to test the copper-silver potential.”

VAL’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed price is trading at 1.3c (8:54 am UTC+8 hours)
