The gold and base metals explorer has highlighted promising additional gold potential following exploration completed by Sandfire during the December 2021 quarter across the Joint Venture projects located in the Bryah Basin.

The Morck Well and Doolgunna projects (including Cheroona joint venture tenements) are strategically located 22 kilometres to the southwest and 4km to the southeast, respectively, of Sandfire’s DeGrussa Copper Mine in Western Australia.

Morck is also located 8km along strike from Sandfire’s Old Highway gold deposit with similar high-grade gold mineralisation being intersected associated within similar geology within completed regional air core drilling.

Highlights include fifteen air core drill holes for 1,420 metres, providing high-quality data and critical geological information on Morck’s upper Narracoota geology known to host copper indicative mineralisation.

At the Cheroona, reverse circulation precollar and diamond tail targeting the DeGrussa host stratigraphy and prospective structures below the Narracoota formation on tenement have been finalised.

Additional RC and diamond drilling and an extension of moving loop electromagnetic survey lines have also been finalised in readiness for the pending successful intersection of the favourable results.

“We are excited that diamond drill hole with RC precollar is planned on the Cheroona JV in the current quarter, targeting DeGrussa host stratigraphy and prospective structures,” managing director Mike Hendriks said.

“We also look forward to receiving assay results from the recently completed 15 holes, 1,420m air-core drill program adjacent to the border of our 100 per cent owned Feather Cap project where Auris has recently completed a follow-up RC drill programme on several significant gold results at Durack East.

“It is pleasing to see that both Morck Well and Doolgunna projects feature in Sandfire’s quarterly as strategic gold processing pipelines, with the potential to add to Sandfire’s maiden gold resource at Old Highway.

“We look forward to reporting further exploration work on these tenements once Sandfire exploration programmes are further developed.”

The company is completing the RC precollar at Morck, anticipating updates on drilling as it comes to hand.

All results from completed Air Core drilling are pending.

AUR’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price is trading at 5.4c (7.53 am UTC+ 8 hours)
