Amani confirm Congo gold runs deep

With a bang, Amani Gold kicked off its 2022 diamond drilling campaign and confirmed the broad mineralisation zones at its Kebidaga deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A headliner, 302.5 metres at 1.18 grams per tonne assay from the surface, was backed up by several higher grade but shallower finds at the site.

The deep drilling went further than previous attempts and successfully encountered mineralisation at depth beyond the project’s existing 4.4 million ounces contained gold resource.

While gold saw little investment through COVID despite its status as a safe-haven metal, developments between Russia and Ukraine caused a surge in investment and pushed its spot price beyond US$1900 per tonne.

Kebidaga and the Douze deposit comprise the greater Giro Gold project, sharing a regional and geological setting with the 16 million ounces Kibali gold mine and covering nearly 500 square kilometres of the central African nation’s Moto greenstone belt.

The company said it was the beginning of an exciting year.

“The results of GRDD036 are auspicious, and we look forward to the assay results for the final 76.16m,” executive chairman Klaus Eckhof said.

Plans are underway for further drilling while awaiting the remaining results.

ANL’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed price was trading at .1c today (10:17 am UTC+8 hours).
