Future Metals face forward

ASX: FME

Future Metals have ground exploration underway and the programme of works and drilling contractor secured for a three thousand metre campaign at its Panton project in the far north of Western Australia.

Working in sync is an ongoing scoping study and metallurgical testwork on the project’s 6.9 million ounce palladium equivalent resource — upgraded in June to the second largest platinum group metal deposit in Australia.

Panton’s nickel trove was boosted by 526 per cent in the upgrade and the company has brought in nickel-copper-platinum group element expert Dr Jon Hronsky as senior exploration advisor to continue forging up the resource.

Nickel grades as high as 1.93 per cent alongside strong results for copper, cobalt, and gold offered fresh exploration targets after a detailed review of existing geological data.

The company said the review highlighted Panton was highly prospective for making a new nickel-copper-PGE sulphide discovery.

“We are taking a measured approach to validating and generating drill targets by completing a ground-based geophysical programme ahead of commencing drilling in October,” managing director and chief executive Jardee Kininmonth said.

“We are targeting a discovery outside of the existing resource area, with different geological association, more akin to the Platreef or Gonneville deposits — the company is progressing multiple value drivers.”

A detailed ground-based gravity survey to map the structure at depth is nearing completion, with an electromagnetic survey set to begin shortly.

FME’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price is currently trading at 13c (10.17 am UTC+ 8 hours).
