Infinity add rubidium to its Pilbara package

ASX: IMI

Infinity Mining have revealed new rubidium exploration targets with lithium bearing pegmatites from rock chip sampling at its Tambourah South tenement in the Western Australian Pilbara.

Robust assays up to 6,489.4 parts per million has the company re-evaluating the tenement’s rubidium potential, setting a main 500 by 300 metre exploration zone for follow-up.

Samples were taken from outcropping pegmatites with over 2.6 kilometres of strike length, and revealed how widespread rubidium could be, with just under 60 per cent of the chips showing grades greater than 1000 parts per million.

Mineralisation was associated with pegmatite-hosted lithium and the high rubidium content alongside anomalous beryllium, caesium, and tantalum is indicative of highly fractionated complex rare element pegmatites.

A series of lithium discoveries last month sent Infinity’s share price surging and the company said the tenement continued to bare out with consistently high grade results.

“The team is committed to leaving no stone unturned when it comes to identifying the commercial potential for this lithium and rubidium mineralised system,” chief executive Joe Groot said.

The explorer are gearing up for over 2500 meters of drilling after the high grade lithium discovery, with mapping and sampling ongoing and preparatory earthworks kicking off later this month.

IMI’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed price has risen 19.51 per cent today, selling at 24c (11:46 am UTC+ 8 hours).
