Infinity Mining has once again sent Tambourah South’s potential skyward, having identified four new lithium-bearing pegmatite zones at the Pilbara project.

Grades up to 1.775 per cent lithium oxide were returned from new rock chip samples and, when combined with previous results, increase the likelihood of economic mineralisation for both lithium and rubidium.

Rock chip samples had confirmed the project’s rubidium potential earlier this month, with grades returning up to 0.521 per cent.

Lag sampling taken from poorly revealed pegmatites to the northwest likewise returned strong lithium grades, indicating pegmatites may be spread further across the project than initially believed.

Assays also built confidence in widespread rare earth pegmatites revealing varying grades of beryllium, caesium, niobium and tantalum, with the company planning to test samples for the rare earth suite.

The company said Tambourah South was quickly becoming a major asset.

“Our technical team is looking into new geochemical and geophysical exploration methods to identify additional mineralised pegmatites concealed under thin cover,” chief executive Joe Groot said.

“This sub-surface information, in combination with the surface geochemical and mapping data we already have, will support a drilling program to test the depth continuity of these highly mineralised pegmatite units.”

Infinity has a program of work in place for 2500 metres of drilling to test the extension of the lithium-bearing pegmatites, with preparatory earthworks set to begin soon.

IMI’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price was trading at 20.5c today (9.59 am UTC+ 8 hours).
