Latin Resources launch at Catamarca

25 November 2022 08:39

Latin Resources are gearing up again at Catamarca, recommencing field work at its 70-thousand-hectare project with confirmed potential to host a high-grade lithium deposit.

It marks the next stage of work on the largest hard rock spodumene landholding in Argentina, home to numerous swarms of underexplored pegmatites.

Previous drilling intersected multiple high-grade lithium pegmatites, including 3.0m @ 2.98% Li2O from 90m, 4.0m @ 2.3% Li2O from 30m and 6.0m @ 1.62% L12O from 18m at Northwest Alto, where recent exploration highlighted new priority areas of outcropping spodumene pegmatites.

Exploration will pave the way for next stage drilling targets, including detailed, systematic geological mapping alongside rock chip sampling along strike from the known spodumene pegmatites.

And to the northwest, Latin drilling has begun on the MT03 Copper project, firing up two scout holes to test for a large copper porphyry target in an area of the Southern Peru copper belt completely covered by recent sediment.

The company said its most recent site visit had verified belief in Catamarca’s potential to host a high-grade lithium deposit.

“Our initial work has shown that the project contains outcropping spodumene rich pegmatites, with early drilling results returning high-grade intersections,” exploration manager Tony Greenaway said.

“Our next phase of work will be aimed to developing our understanding of this fertile pegmatite system, through systematic mapping of the spodumene occurrences, coupled with detailed surface sampling to define follow-up drill targets — it is great to finally commence drilling at our MT03 copper target in Peru as well.”

Alongside exploration, Latin Resources will also be working on its links with the wider regional community through its consultation network of local representatives.
