Infinity confirms Pilbara nickel

15 December 2022 09:22
ASX: IMI

Infinity Mining rock chip assays have returned as high as 7636 parts per million nickel and 8918ppm chromium from the Brisbane Nickel Prospect at its Panorama project in the Western Australian Pilbara.

It is consistent with, and exceeds the nickel results of, when the prospect area was first identified by Planet Metals in 1969 with values up to 6319 ppm nickel and 14,800ppm chromium.

Brisbane is the main prospect of interest in the licence, identified by open-file mapping and sampling along the magnesium-rich ultramafic intrusive rocks of the Dalton Suite which is host to the nearby Dalton Ni-PGE prospect and its intersections of high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt.

The Panorama territory is considered highly prospective for all of shear-hosted gold and conglomerate-gold hosted systems, VHMS copper zinc deposits, and intrusive related nickel sulphide deposits — with recent work showing a prominent nearby conducive target could represent a buried nickel-sulphide system.

Planet Metals concluded there was potential for concealed nickel mineralisation, but it appears no further exploration was ever carried out over Brisbane Nickel — until the arrival of Infinity, who plan get to drilling the EM conductive target in the new year.

IMI’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price has risen 1.72 per cent today, currently selling at 30c (9.22 am UTC+ 8 hours).
