Coda gets efficient at Emmie

7 February 2023 11:27

Coda Minerals have identified a new selective leaching process with potential in hand to optimise both its final product streams and capital efficiency as the final work process gets underway and the scoping study nears completion for the Elizabeth Creek project in South Australia’s Olympic Copper Province.

It shows further optimisation available for a project already showing it can bring in steady production of 2.5 million tonnes of copper and cobalt a year from traditional mining methods.

And the newly identified NONOX process can position a bevy of critical mineral products at an optimal point in the value chain, designed to deliver upgraded copper-silver concentrate, battery-grade cobalt sulphate and zinc-carbonate end-products.

Elizabeth Creek is comprised of a cornerstone Emmie Bluff copper-cobalt deposit and its standout JORC resource on top of the Emmie IOCG discovery which has continued to demonstrate itself as a vast system in the nation’s most productive copper belt.

The company said with the majority of mining and metallurgy work and ancillary inputs now complete, it was making excellent progress with the final stages of the study.

“The completion of the Scoping Study will mark the culmination of an enormous amount of work on the mining and metallurgy of the Elizabeth Creek Project. Although often considered high-level in nature, a Scoping Study also needs to set out a robust base case encompassing the optimum combination of options to be taken forward into a Pre-Feasibility Study,” chief executive Chris Stevens said.

“The work still to be completed relates to one of the project’s greatest strengths – the amenability of cobalt to high recoveries and processing to deliver valuable battery-grade end-products on site.

“With all but one of the trade-off studies now complete, we expect to finalise this work very shortly and look forward to completing the study towards to the end of the current quarter with the results likely to be presented to the market in April 2023.”

Coda now expects its overall scoping study finalised for delivery in April and an Emmie Bluff gravity survey to take off in March, with an ANT survey and review of Cameron River assay results both underway.
