Infinity Hit Copper on the Hillside

2 March 2023 09:42
ASX: IMI

Infinity Mining looks to be making good on the Pilbara’s promise, with rock chip sampling at the company’s Hillside Project discovering copper, molybdenum, gold and silver along a previously unidentified quartz vein.

The discovery couldn’t have come at a better time, as it immediately follows IMI firming up the Hillside project with a five-year extension of Exploration Licence E45/4709.

The newly uncovered sheared copper-stained quartz vein is located on the western side of licence E45/4708 and can be traced for up to 170 metres with a thickness of up to 2m and a slight downdip twenty degrees to the east.

A smaller second out of malachite-stained sheared quarts was also identified just 80 metres west of the first vein, but due to the transport cover being thicker than over the first vein, Infinity could not determine the orientation and extent of the vein at this time.

A total of 11 rockchip samples were collected from along the outcropping quartz vein and smaller quartz outcrop with assays showing grades up to 2439 ppm copper, 1198 ppm molybdenum, 0.68 g/t gold and 14 g/t silver.

Part of Infinity’s considerable holding in Western Australia’s renowned Pilbara region, the Hillside is located within East Pilbara Granite-Greenstone Terrane, an area highly prospective for shear-hosted gold systems and Volcanogenic Massive Hosted Sulphide (VHMS) base-metals.

The company said it plans to revisit the Project in the 2023 field season to determine the style and extent of copper-molybdenum mineralisation.

“This is a new Cu prospect within our Hillside Project and the Company is excited. As we are yet to fully understand the style of mineralisation in this area, especially given the high Mo and Ag values, we are planning to go back early in the 2023 field season to determine its potential quickly,” Chief Executive Joe Groot said.

Infinity is now preparing an extensive exploration program for Hillside, based on a VTEM survey completed in October last year.

IMI’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price was trading at 17c today (9.14 am UTC+ 8 hours).
